David Butler

David Butler

David is a native of Columbia County, Georgia.  He graduated from Evans High School in 1987 and North Georgia College in 1992.  He began his career in the fire service in February 1991 and is currently a captain with Columbia County Fire Rescue.  He and his wife Kelley have three children, Bonnie, Ben and William.  He and his family are members of Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Harlem.

David is an active member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Sons of American Revolution, the Columbia County Historical Society and the Columbia County Historic Property Advisory Committee.  He is also an avid genealogist.  The primary focus for his writing is on local history. 

David's works include: Columbia County, Gold Star Roll of Honor: "Tis Writ in Tears and Blood"; Revolutionary War Soldiers Buried in Columbia County, Georgia; Historical Monuments, Markers, and Memorials in Columbia County, Georgia; and, Columbia County Gray, Burial Locations for Confederate Soldiers in Columbia County, Georgia (Including McDuffie County).
